If you are scheduled for an overnight sleep study, your referring physician will advise you on how to prepare.
Sleep studies (polysomnogram) test sleep cycles and stages by recording brain waves, eye movement, and the electrical activity of muscles in addition to heart rhythm, respiratory rate and blood oxygen saturation. You will also be observed and videotaped.
Electrodes will be placed on different parts of your face (scalp, chin, eyelids) and Instruments will record your activity.
