Do's
Retain a regular routine to ensure that you are getting enough (but not too much) sleep.
Maintain your room at an appropriate comfort level, including temperature, light, and noise.
Adopt a pattern of regular relaxing behaviors to relax you before bedtime.
Avoid using your bed for anything other than sleeping or relaxing.
Exercise regularly.
Don'ts
Avoid eating or drinking large amounts before bedtime.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine before bedtime
Do not nap during the middle of the day or evening.
Don't smoke.
Avoid dwelling on troubling or intense thoughts before trying to sleep, or set up a ‘worry time' during the day to address your concerns.
If you can't fall asleep within 30 minutes, get up and do something easy until you are sleepy.
Long term use of sleeping pills should be avoided.
